Each deck is tied to a specific class. Decks can be created and of each player. If the player who initiated the Joust has the higher mana cost The mana cost of a card or Hero Power determines how much mana is required to play that card from the hand or to use that Hero Power. The number is displayed inside a blue minion, a special secondary effect will be activated, depending on the Joust card. Notes
- The basic rule for Joust is that in order to win the Joust, the initiating player must reveal a higher mana cost minion than the opponent. If this is not achieved, for whatever reason, the initiating player will not win the Joust, and the Joust effect will not be activated. It is not possible to "draw" in a Joust; the initiating player either wins or does not.
- If the minion is lower cost, or the two are of equal cost, the secondary effect will not activate.
- If the initiating player has no minion left to reveal, they will automatically lose the Joust, and no minions will be revealed for either player. If neither player has minions left to reveal, the initiating player will lose the Joust. If the opponent has no minion left to reveal, but the initiating player does, the initiating player will win the Joust by default.
- This means that with two identical decks, initiating a Joust has a less than 50% chance of success.
- Jousting uses the base mana cost The mana cost of a card or Hero Power determines how much mana is required to play that card from the hand or to use that Hero Power. The number is displayed inside a blue of the minion cards, regardless of any cost-modifying effect that can affect cards in a deck (such as Renounce Darkness Renounce Darkness Set: Whispers of the Old Gods Type: Spell Class: Warlock Rarity: Epic Cost: 2 Abilities: Modify cost, Replace, Replace Hero Power Tags: Class-related, Hero Power-related, Random Replace your Hero Power and Warlock cards ) or hand (such as Molten Giant Molten Giant Set: Classic Type: Minion Rarity: Epic Cost: 25 Attack: 8 Health: 8 Abilities: Modify cost Tags: Health-related, In-hand effect, Ongoing effect Costs (1) less for each damage your hero has taken. He gets terrible ).
- During a Joust, both minions are revealed to both players.
- Jousting reveals a minion from each player`s unused deck. The minions are selected at random, not by order of placement in the deck.
- Following a Joust, the minions are shuffled back into the players` decks, effectively incorporating a shuffle into deck Shuffle into deck effects place cards into a player s deck, with its placement randomly determined. While not stated in card text, the randomness of the card s placement is achieved through subsequently shuffling the entire deck. effect. This has a high very chance of altering the order of those two cards, depending on the number of cards remaining in each player`s deck. Be that as it may, since it is not possible to know their previous positions in their decks, this has no practical significance.

Opinions range from hating it because of the difficulty, to loving it because it is a challenging event, and because gear and class do not make a difference; only skill makes a difference in jousting.

Trivia
- The developers came up with the idea of Jousting after choosing the Grand Tournament as the setting for the new expansion. With the key involvement of jousting in the original Argent Tournament the developers knew that they had to have "some kind of jousting" featureSpecial attraction in the expansion. Earlier designs included "a lot of stuff with Charge For the card of the same name, see Charge (card) Charge is an ability allowing a minion to attack the same turn it is summoned. Charge is available to all classes, but is most strongly ", with some earlier versions becoming non-Joust minions in the set, such as Argent Horserider Argent Horserider Set: The Grand Tournament Type: Minion Rarity: Common Cost: 3 Attack: 2 Health: 1 Abilities: Charge, Divine Shield ChargeDivine ShieldHis horse s name is Betsy.See this card on Hearthpwn data page] Argent Horserider is . The developers eventually settled on a process by which both players revealed a card, and whichever had the highest cost gained an extra effect; this was later changed to include only minions, as this allowed players to focus on including higher cost minions while still including lower cost spells.
- Most Joust minions are mounted, helping to reinforce the theme.
- Joust was not made into a keyword A selection of minions, each with its own ability. From left to right: Divine Shield, Deathrattle, a triggered effect, and Spell Damage. Abilities are special effects, powers, or behaviors found on cards. For spell cards, partly because of a lack of synergy with established keywords, and partly because it is "more in depth" than other keywords. It may also not have featured on a large enough range of cards.
- After the releaseAnnounce of The Grand Tournament "From east to west, heroes are sent, seeking glory in the greatest of events... there are knights on noble steeds; those who will bring them to their knees; there are monsters to test their mettle , Some players exploited the length of the jousting animation by playing Nozdormu Nozdormu Set: Classic Type: Minion Subtype: Dragon Rarity: Legendary Cost: 9 Attack: 8 Health: 8 Tags: Ongoing effect Players only have 15 seconds to take their turns.Time to write some flavor text.See this card on and following it up with a Joust card, forcing their opponent to skip their next turn. During the player`s subsequent turns, they would continue to play Joust cards and repeatedly force their opponent to miss turns until they won the game. This was eventually hotfixed.
