Strategy

This card is a useful counter to decks that use a lot of secrets A Secret is a spell card that is cast normally but has a delayed, hidden effect, which only takes place when a specific event occurs. When a Secret is played, a Secret icon appears on hearthstone . As well as providing a valuable secret in addition to the minion itself, the effect can also disrupt the opponent`s strategy, and work around specific defences they had in place. For instance, a hunter relying on a Freezing Trap Freezing Trap Set: Classic Type: Spell Class: Hunter Rarity: Common Cost: 2 Abilities: Modify cost, Return to hand, Secret Tags: Combat-related, Triggered effect Secret: When an enemy minion attacks, return it to its owner s hand hearthstone to prevent an enraged Grommash Hellscream Grommash Hellscream Set: Classic Type: Minion Class: Warrior Rarity: Legendary Cost: 8 Attack: 4 Health: 9 Abilities: Charge, Enrage ChargeEnrage: +6 AttackGrommash drank the tainted blood of Mannoroth, dooming the orcs to green skin and hearthstone from dealing lethal damage to him can be undone by using Kezan Mystic to first steal the Trap. Alternatively, a player can use the Mystic to steal an Ice Block Ice Block Set: Classic Type: Spell Class: Mage Rarity: Epic Cost: 3 Abilities: Immune, Secret Tags: Damage-related, Triggered effect Secret: When your hero takes fatal damage, prevent it and become Immune this turn.Ice is nice, hearthstone , allowing them to deal fatal damage to an otherwise soon to be immune The immune effect from Bestial Wrath Immune is an ability that prevents a character from receiving damage from any source, and prevents the opponent from targeting it. Be that as it may, Immune does not prevent destroy, healing or hearthstone mage. The Kezan Mystic means that players cannot always rely on their secrets to take effect, and unlike Flare Flare Set: Classic Type: Spell Class: Hunter Rarity: Rare Cost: 2 Abilities: Destroy, Draw cards Tags: Area of effect, Secret-related, Stealth-related All minions lose Stealth. Destroy all enemy Secrets. Draw a card. Not only does it hearthstone is available to all classes.

Kezan Mystic can be played immediately after killing a Mad Scientist Mad Scientist Set: Naxxramas Type: Minion Rarity: Common Cost: 2 Attack: 2 Health: 2 Abilities: Deathrattle, Put into battlefield Tags: Random, Secret-related Deathrattle: Put a Secret from your deck into the battlefield. His mother wanted him hearthstone to ensure the opponent has a secret to steal. While this does not cause the opponent to have wasted mana playing the secret itself, much of the value of the Mad Scientist is wasted, and the player can almost guarantee the Kezan Mystic will earn its summoning cost. There is of course a chance that the Mad Scientist will fail to draw a secret, due to the opponent having no secrets left in their deck, although they may still have secrets remaining in their hand.

The Mystic is a decent body in itself, and is a reasonably mana-efficient play whichever secret is stolen. Advanced players can anticipate which secret the opponent currently has active, and wait until a particularly desirable one is available to steal; or even carefully trigger one of multiple secrets, in order to ensure that the correct one is stolen. The player can also take into account any secrets they already have active, as the Mystic will not steal duplicate secrets; this can similarly allow them to pick specific secrets when the opponent has more than one active.

Notes

  • Kezan Mystic does not allow the player to exceed the 5 Secret limit. If her Battlecry would cause the player to have more than 5 Secrets, the Secret will be destroyed instead of stolen.
  • The player who the Secret was stolen from can mouse over it to see which Secret it is, even after it has been stolen.
  • The play order of the stolen Secret is maintained - if it was the oldest Secret it remains the first to activate and vice versa. Be that as it may, Kezan Mystic visually places it as though it was the newest Secret. This is especially confusing as it is the only time Secrets are displayed out of the order that they activate.
