    • Placing carpets on string will allow one to make mob-proof walkways since mobs will think that the carpets on the string are Air blocks.
    • Placing carpets on fences will allow players to jump on top of said fences. In fact, the player will actually jump onto the carpet which means that the player will be jumping up onto the fence`s collision box.
  • Placing carpets between an enchantment table and some bookshelves will cause the bookshelves to not be able to influence the enchantment table.
  • Brown carpets can spawn naturally in Villages where they are spawned on top of fences in order to look like tables.

Usage

Carpet has the same thickness as a pressure plate. It has a hitbox of 1⃢₁₄16 of a block and covers the entire surface of the block it is placed on, unlike pressure plates.

Carpet can be placed on any block, including non-solid blocks.

Carpet can be pushed and pulled by pistons but will pop off if pushed onto a hole or pulled downwards. It can also break falling sand and gravel.

Carpet is an opaque block but does not decrease light going through it. Because of this and the fact that it can be placed on any block, a common decorative strategy is to place carpet on glowstone, illuminating a room and hiding the light source at the same time.

Carpet can be placed over water blocks, but to do so you must target an adjacent block with a visible hitbox.

Carpet can be used as a fuel in furnaces, smelting 0.335 items per carpet square.Java⃂edition only

Carpets can be used to give llamas a distinct saddle pattern.
