A Play of the Game (or PotG) is an action taken by a player in a match that is determined, by an algorithm, to be game-changing. A Play of the Game is featured at the end of every match, and is shown in the perspective of the player who took the action.
In Competitive Play Competitive Play is the ranked Play Mode of Overwatch. In this mode, players stay on the same team for a full attack/defense rotation. Players are unable to join another game if they leave their original , a variant known as Play of the Match is shown instead; showing the most game-changing action in all of the games played within a match.
Types
There are various types of PotGs:
- High Score: Features large killstreaks or multikills.
- Lifesaver: Features actions taken to prevent a teammate from elimination.
- Shutdown: Features an action taken to prevent an enemy from doing something of large impact, such as using an Ultimate ability Ultimate abilities (Commonly referred to by players as Ults ) are powerful abilities only available to a hero once their Ultimate Meter has filled. Progress towards an Ultimate persists through death. The Ultimate Meter fills by .
- Sharpshooter: Features difficult kills, determined by speed, accuracy, and other factors.
